It is possible to imbed magical charms within the confines of an item, and for those not skilled in magic to use them. Magical items are both valuable and desirable - they are created by uniting the two skills of Charming and Alchemy. A member of the Alchemists, Artisans or Loremasters Guild will take hold of a suitable item (an amulet, a wand, a ring, etc.) and imbed the focus of a magical charm within it. They will then call upon one suitably skilled in Charming to pass essence to the item while they concentrate on charging it up. Different items can hold different number of charges, and the potency of the item is dependent on the skill in Alchemy of the person charging it.
To use the power of a magical item, type POINT followed by the item, followed (if appropriate) by whom you wish to point it at. It is also possible to type POINT followed by the name of the charm you wish to use - to search your inventory for that charm in one of your held items - followed (if appropriate) again by any parameters. An example of pointing by referring to the item might be POINT WAND ESHKADETH to point your wand (thereby casting the spell) at Eshkadeth; an example of pointing the self-same wand referring to the charm might be POINT FIREBOLT ESHKADETH and assuming the wand contains the "firebolt" charm, it will be used to point/cast at Eshkadeth. Do not forget you can use ME in place of a named target to use the artifact on yourself, e..g. POINT RING ME or POINT HEALHAND ME to cast healhand on yourself through one of your charged items.
