There are four distinct phases in the life of an Avalonian. The first spent in the academy, the second in the school and the third, perhaps the most difficult, the transition between fledgling apprentice (or LW) and long-term independent. The fourth, the long and heroic challenge of making a mark in this land is dealt with elsewhere but here we address that crucial third phase: the badges.
After joining a guild, during the apprenticeship or LW phase, there are TWENTY "badges" of knowledge that all Avalonians should aspire to attain. These badges are completed by finishing the experiences associated with each particular badge.
Completion of the badges signifies the youngster is competent and self-assured and ready to meet the next challenges but also comes with a "prize" boosting all skill levels and gaining much reputation for city, guild and individuals involved. Many guild use the badges as a gauge of a youngster's readiness to move from apprenticeship to Initiate level. Details on the "prize" for each profession is in HELP PRIZE.
Syntax: BADGES.

Syntax: NEXT/BACK or SWITCH.

Syntax: REQUEST PRIZE FROM <senior player name>.
Have you completed all of the badges according to HELP BADGELIST and the BADGES command? Then you are eligible for the "prize" - the denouement of the badges process where your success is publicly and officially recognised. It can only be claimed when ALL badges are done. When you feel ready type REQUEST PRIZE FROM followed by the name of the person to petition for recognition. This gives him or her a prompt to check you out and assent or reject. If you receive assent then the prize is yours!
Winning the prize is a first tangible achievement of your Avalon career and gets noted in your HELP and HISTORY files. The prize itself is a boost of all your skills to the level of Respected through Renowned and, depending on your guild's profession, immediately increases three general skills to the level of Renowned and ensures all your guild/profession skills jump to the next level along: if at Competent they become Respected, if at Respected they become Renowned, etc. It is as you can imagine a prize sought by all apprentices and most guilds make it compulsory (for the good of the neophyte). Details further explained in HELP PRIZE.
