The AMBER QUEST is a test of fighter ability and understanding. The victor will be justly feted as one of the land's greatest combatants. The first major event of these Games will be taking place in two weeks on Saturday 14th May, 10pm by the Avalon clock.
The Amber of the Sun itself and other artifact prizes will be awarded at the end of June to the individual who has proven themselves the most capable and enduring fighter over the course of the coming Games; and to whosoever is victorious in the Contest of May 14th. The competition after May 14th is not to be biased by the inclusion of any new divine gem powers.
The format for this quest will be a fighting contest with all competitors limited to using either the Javalon or Lumiere clients. Internal macros will be allowed - this is not, after all, a test of typing speed but over the past years, the automation of fighters has increased dramatically and quite often, people simply gain set-ups handed down that they have no clue about and most certainly, these individuals have no "feel" for combat. This ultimately makes for weaker fighters: an easier route to 'average' but excellence remaining unattainable. This Amber Quest aims to separate those who truly know what they are doing, from those who do not.
In the lead up to the 14th May, there will be a series of mini-duels for those who wish to practice their raw fighting. Keep an eye on HELP SCHEDULE as well as other forms of public announcements. If you find that the practice events being held are not in your time-zone, feel free to request extra bouts and suggest the time for them to held and I shall see about providing them.
The start of June will herald the central event. This will be a month of tournaments climaxing with the results, the distribution of artifact prizes and - of course - the presentation and pooling of the Amber of the Sun along with Contendership for Ordination. Format specifics for the individual games will be announced nearer the time (though feel free to ask Aethon in the meantime) and all relevant commands to keep track of the leaderboard and such will also be listed.
