Any NPC set up to be a fighting trainer like Ferdinand and Juno (found in the Amphitheatre and the Battlearena respectively) can be used to hone your combat skills and improve your feel for healing, defending, attacking at the right times etc.
These NPCs should not be abused by loophole exploiting but ought to be tackled directly or left for others to use.
NPC tutors will not kill if they can help it if you are an LW or MW. Instead they will deliver a "knockout" blow, rendering you unconscious instead of what would otherwise be the killing strike. This unconsciousness lasts for five to ten seconds and then the NPC will help you back to conscious state, staunch any bleeding and let you recover. The NPC will not restart hostilities until you next strike an offensive blow.
Syntax: READY.
Use READY to make a tutor CCC leap into action against you for training. Do not SAY or TELL the word but instead type it at the start of the input line. This will start the "lesson" at whatever is his/her current level i..e. he or she will ATTACK you, striking and fighting striking trying to beat you until the very last blow. This will instead become a knockout hit, felling you unconscious. The NPC tutor will then turn healer and staunch your wounds, patching you up for the next bout.
Syntax: READY <NPC level>.
Typing READY followed by the NPC Level 1 to 10 and you will set the NPC attacking you (as above) but from the outset the NPC level will be changed to whichever number you've chosen: 1 is easiest, through 10 which is hardest. Check out HELP NPC or just HELP NPCLEVEL for details of what the NPC level means.
Syntax: QUERY <npc>.
Queries the Non-Player character about his or her level and thinking speed and special attributes. Typically this will reveal the NPC's level (1 through 10) and a comparable experience level in regular player terms (one of the hundred XP levels as per HELP LEVELS); it will tell you how fast thinking is the NPC measured against the academy sage's high benchmark and it will list any special attributes the NPC might possess so you can take this into account in combat or training.
Syntax: STOP.
Makes all NPC trainers and tutors cease combat hostitlities immediately. No more strike damage will be heading your way from the patient teachers until next you use READY or make first strike.
Syntax: ZOOM ILMARAEL or ZOOM PINNACLE.
Ferdinand is in the amphitheatre by the ruins of Ilmarael. ZOOM ILMARAEL takes you to within a few locations and you should map your way from there. Juno is in the Battlearena which can only be reached using the arena portal at "Rock Pinnacle" location in northern Avalon. ZOOM PINNACLE will take you there. Check out HELP ARENA and BATTLEARENA for more details.
