Here are the specific tweaks and modifications to the warfare system
following Parrius' conquest of Mercinae. All are active now. Write-up of
the conquest is in HELP INVASION1237.
fort besiege via catapults and rams reduced by 60%
fort damage vs oilfires adjusted to be 10% the previous per-round levels.
fort construction at 160% per completed CONSTRUCT dispatch
burning oil poured from cauldrons amended to be 10 oils to 1 oilfire
oilfires, like regular fires, now affected by weather (e.g. rain)
citywide announcement at first strike against homeland forts by enemy
citywide announcement at first strike of any damage against home forts
landwide announcement when foreign legions set foot within homecity walls
landwide announcement when foreign legions depart enemy city locations
city or guildwide announcement when first home legion engaged/attacked
city or guildwide announcement at each legion destroyed
landwide announcement at the first plunder by an invading force
worldwide announcement at the first completed raze/destruction by invader
citywide announcement at the start of each plunder and/or razing
EXPECT THE FOLLOWING SOON: use of rations, less forgiving line-of-sight for
distance attacks (archers/projectiles) with use of obstacles, heights
and 'things in the way by mistake' included, weather impact on legion
marches (especially long ones), missions - for evaluated goals, organised
automated response, near-certain minimum level effectiveness; the last
concession to idiotproofing, more to offer a modicum of artificial-I to the
cities and guilds certain folks have taken on the duty to safeguard but
have failed to do so. ANY AND ALL FURTHER MODIFICATIONS WILL BE POSTED
ON THE BULLETIN BOARD AND HELPFILES AMENDED. You can safely ignore this
'coming soon' paragraph since it is not live, nor is it definitive.
