I would like to post my objection to mana drain. Loremasters already rely heavily on mana for defence and attack as it is. Our robes and staff use mana with every skill. Add on top of that the \"regular\" skills that drain mana and, it's extrememly difficult to keep up with the drain as is. If you add something else to drain mana, it will be impossible to keep up.

I know the solution, don't use as many defences or attacks that drain mana. I do that already because, as anyone who has fought me knows, I'm not that skilled to begin with. But, to add another significant drain would be disabling. So, if this would come to fruition, I would suggest a very close look at the amount of drain depending on how it is set up.

I do agree that staves are a bit rampant but, why don't people start felling the staves in the forests, the 'normal' challenge areas, etc? I agree, it takes a long time but, I've often seen times on Avalon when this could be done. The LM doesn't receive a message saying 'so and so attempts to fell your stave'. Perhaps the main problem you're having with this is the boredom of having to sit there and actually do it.

I can also remember a time not too long ago (about 40 years perhaps) that it was unheard of to use or have staves. I'm sure this will come about again in time. History does tend to repeat itself.
