charming (again).
#2071

A confession, enchantress - one which supports your objections. I've been a mage for 3 months now and what level of charming have I achieved? Renowned *wince* while Rituals, Candescence and Scholarship have far excelled it. No, I won't be giving up my

charged items either. Why renowned? To get nullify and get out of webs. But would I consider giving up my profession at this point because of this? In a word. No.

Charming is one of the skills in which we can achieve ultimate, true, and it is a skillset we share, true - but it is not our strength. How many charming spells do you use in a challenge? Pentacle and nullify a lot. Sight and hearing also. Handburn so

metimes. Web and sleep are a waste on anyone of any merit.

Everyone knows the standard mage tactic, order dragon hostile, dazzle and scathe in rits. Yes, it's annoying that anyone can have ultimate charming. I see apprentices of all guilds battling it out with web and handburns. Hardly helpful to anyone in t

he long run. But will it change? A charter would be wonderful but I doubt we could make it happen. And that's not being down on the idea. Simply pragmatic. We give our allies to have teleport, summon and traversal abilities because we need them. What

enchanter will refuse his or her friend a summon item, knowing full well it will one day save them?

There will always be favours, debts , necessities here and there which make any such comapct across the guilds and cities a hopeless endeavour. It could be limited perhaps but never eradicated.

Plaman's point was valid - at a certain level anyone can spit poisons: charged sight/hearing items or spit aldaka/febfendu? Sleep or mandrake spit? And in scholarship, one can acquire runeblades. Yes I know it's not the same as being a loremaster and

yes they don't stick but still it's another skill to be acquired and a useful altenative attack. On the subject of which, half the players on-line (probably more) who aren't LMs are wandering about with ult potions and various ult runes.

If I was to change anything in our skills it would be firstly to see a redundant candescence skill 'supporting' removed and then to wonder why our most powerful attack, brilliance, ultimate candescence, isn't that brilliant.

We have a skillset we make what we can of it, but ultimately it is our own style of play and use of the skills we acquire which makes us unique as fighters. Once again I've begun to ramble. What I've endeavoured to offer, Imladris, is that while i ag

ree (and am guilty of) there is a rampant use of charged items, the same grievance could be aired by other guilds whose mambers know their stuff better than me, and that charming is far from the be all and end all of our skillset. Yours respectfully C
