We seem to be overlapping our posts a bit.
As I alluded to a few post ago, loremasters attemped to control magic items
once before. We placed a general ban on pentacle items which caused a
huge uproar in Avalon and didn't work out anyway (too many rouge loremasters
and Artisans violated the ban). Of all the other professions in Avalon,
only mages agreed with this ban, and in fact, called for even more items to
be banned.
We chose pentacle items because pentacles give fighting loremasters more
trouble than perhaps any other defense. And all pentacle items are SUPPLIED
by loremasters. Hence we were providing Avalon with something that was
slapping us in the face.
Consider the possibilities. If we banned astralbond items, few people would
ever be shipped except by a mage or a loremaster. If we banned teleport and
traversal items, people would be safe in nearly ANY closed area (with
pyramid down) except from loremasters and mages. I like it!
The bottom line is, some of us have guild skills that were intended to be
shared with all of Avalon. Examples include the abilities to pick and prepare
poisons and herbs, restore life, mix potions, make weapons and armour,
curse items, fashion runes, and apparently, make magic items. Whether or
not these skills were intented to be shared universally or selectively is
another matter all together.
