Many believe "vengeance" exists only to do violence in comfort but
this belief is misguided and the goddess of vengeance would have no
place in the Song of Creation if it were so; the realm would be a mere
sideshow in the Songs of War and Hate.
But it is not so.
Vengeance is a creative and vigorous force; a blend of fate and war, wisdom and doom, justice and chaos, dreams and death, forged in fire and gilded by the storm. Vengeance is the expression of free will made real. It is the individual choice to draw that line in the sand that says "No more" and refuse to be discounted. It is the life of that choice - the consequences - the what-happens-next for those brave enough to "rage against the dying of the night."
Everyone has been unjustly opposed, subjected to forces that seek to imprison their will and impose - hurt - deride - destroy - erode; wronged by the so-called Good and their conveyor belt of moral straitjackets, by the so-called Evil and their roster of murderers slaughtering anyone in their way, even by so-called Neutrals whose passive self-love lets them stand idle while others are slain for their beliefs and the strong prey on the weak. Many flavours all the same: the faithless and the hypocrites committing their crimes with none to oppose.
Vengeance does not stand idle; does not murder; will not play moral overlord. But it will oppose and it will fight to the last breath for that line in the sand that says "No more".
Vengeance embodies a purity of self-will fashioned by one's own ideals, one's own terms - individuals active and rebellious in beautiful defiance of hypocrisy and the armies of moral fascists and those who have wronged. There may be War, there may be Violence, there may be some who say Vengeance is Evil or Good or Chaotic. What does it matter? The prating is irrelevant for Vengeance transcends morality, alignment and creed.
It is the Law of One relentlessly manifest by the Order of Xanthe, goddess of vangeance; and it is a Life liberated from the tainted inheritance of the spoon-fed mob. The Faithful have good reason for their inspired zeal and cause enough for all true Avengers. Those able to comprehend will find in Xanthe an eternal protector and in her Order a fraternity of sympathy, acceptance and support... no longer need that line in the sand be defended alone...
