You are unhappy with Avalon where once you were happy. Somebody asks you why?
A> "Once upon a time I did play an Avalon I enjoyed and thought I was good at and then it did change and these changes ruined my game and defeated me where no player was able to put me down..."
B> "Things have changed in Avalon - I don't know where I am any more - everything is strange - why couldn't they have left it like it was?"
C> "Bah! Everything was fine before. Why did they have to fix something that wasn't broke? What's to say if I put in a week learning new stuff it won't change again next month? Too risky for my valuable time."
D> "Sheesh, Avalon used to have something special and the gamesystem was so well put together but all the new stuff? It's too much effort to learn and anyway how do I know it won't seem shit when I have learned it? Plenty of old people say they hate specs and all the new stuff. They're the ones playing it. Shouldn't they know what the f**k they're talking about?"
E> "All of the above and then some!"
Here may be some answers and if they don't cut any ice, that's your free choice and the problem may lie in you. Poor Avalon is only a game trying to be different from the rest.
A> Look at HELP WHY and understand it was not by choice we had to develop the gamesystem to make it enough to stay a challenge for the decades ahead. The bots will always automate good but it should need intelligence and the human touch to be brilliant. Many get beaten by bots. The many are never brilliant. You get beat by bots? Wake up to the challenge. You prefer to be automaton? Be so and be welcome and watch the brilliant rise, match and then best you. Avalon promises.
B> The fundamentals are unchanged. The layers additional are either preparatory, or will naturally play into your game if you simply do your normal stuff, or are the substance of originality and innovation and exist to give a platform for you - the player - to be better than your client and somebody else's code.
