The word "localepoint" refers to one of the nine 'sectors' into which a standard location is divided. The nine localepoints are arranged around a CENTRE, the following eight points being denominated by the points of the compass: NORTH, NORTHEAST, EAST, SOUTHEAST, SOUTH, SOUTHWEST, WEST and NORTHWEST. When you type LOCALE or BANNER you will be informed of details of your current location, divided into localepoints (where appropriate). It is possible to raise or lower localepoints, to create obstacles - primarily for military purposes - and if you engender the digging to deeply through a single localepoint you will create a trench; and below that begin to delve into the secrets of the under-deeps.
See HELP LOCALE for a more broad explanation of the notion of the location and the locale/localepoints; HELP ELEVATION for info on the height of a location; and HELP UNDERDEEPS for a little insight into the concept of the 'land' beneath the surface of the continent.
