I'll have to respectfully disagree.
No death is pointless to one more talented.
There are so many ways of personal victory that doesnt include slaying ones opponent. You could try surviving for longer then a minute, try to land a couple of hits and escape or learning a new counter for a tactic that has devastated you in the past. How can you learn if you dont try? How can you hone your eyes and your reflexes if you only go up against those who are as slow or slower then you are. What is a ship ride other then a few minutes of inconvenience before dusting yourself off and throwing
yourself into the fray again?
Otherwise who do we have left? The land is already over saturated with those who are all ultimate who hide in their guilds or stockrooms only venturing out to slay one they know is a sure thing or trying to sucker punch an enemy they have struggled with. Living a life of sure things is what creates cowards.
I am all for the school of hard knocks and I would hate the message to all young aspiring fighters to be not to try if it is someone you are not sure you can beat and missing out on all the enjoyment combat can bring and stealing their tactics for your own.
