It's a skill that plenty of bards use openly in day to day combat, I know for a fact Camaris uses it to force thieves out of sewers. It also has an EXTREMELY simple defence.

Secondly, I think, you should leave your Cramped Shack once in a while, and discard of the advantages gained from the divine globe. Without them, as we saw earlier, it's clear who is the incompetent one.
