Olvar has a delay in its use, as does res potion. Neither of these lead to a situation where you are brought to life defenceless for almost certain death. Astralbond is a skill, and from what I have heard, the skill was intended to combat other skills - somewhat of a reverse sphere rune or warding ritual - but it is primarily used in a much different way. All new skills has unexpected applications or consequences - if we don't question them, the gods may never know about these alternative uses.
