The bards are not the only guild who have to seriously deal with triggers effecting fighting, and not in just a general sense. The Rangers and Bandits alike are forced to deal with advanced trigger systems that people program and design, I have see systems so utterly complex my constant poisoning had little to none effect whatsoever, no matter what I used, except perhaps as a slight delay.
The bards mainly rely on their opponent to have sight and hearing or both, inorder for a large number of your attacks to have much effect. This can present a problem, but it, like those of the poisoning guilds, can be overcome.
