I think it is safe to respond for Threap here. Obviously he had to use the skill on someone to find out what it did. You just happened to be the person he tested it on. I do not think Threap was being hypocritical in the slightest.

Now that he knows what it does, he has said he will not use it.

I do not think an apology is necessary.
