Casting versus pointing.
#2061

Yes, one might think that there would be an advantage in being able to cast spells (not running out of charges, having to remember, etc.). However, there are really more advantages in pointing items than in casting spells. Whenever you are confused, f

or example, if you try to cast a spell... you often end up casting something else. You can pretty much always point the item though, even if you are retarded for one reason or another. There is only one exception to this that I can think of... Sparkle.

If you are webbed, you can't point anything, so only casting the spell will work. But breakfree is a lot more effective than sparkle anyway, so not much of a plus on that side either.

When a mage gets higher level charming, things like handburn do more damage... if you can actually think clearly enough to cast the spell, have a healthy tongue and vocal chords, etc. But overall, there just don't seem to be enough advantages to castin

g spells over pointing items to make me throw out my items.
