The skills are not unbalanced, they only appear so when employed competently.
I'm not scoffing at a legion of demons because there are a number of very skilled people who use them well.
Similarly, there have in Avalon's history been a bard or two that would certainly have caused me to take bard skills more seriously in combat than you seem to.
The skills themselves - dismissing an occasional ability that may upset the balance until rectified (an ability, not an entire skill) - are balanced.
It is the combatant who tips the balance. Thus the answer to stopping Rohan or Jacinta or Panaideos isn't to cry for an end to demonology, but a cry for mastery of your equally powerful skills.
As a footnote, I am embarrassed for the profession that you mentioned stone work.
If I am wrong and there does exist an imbalance in skills, then mysticism is the single most powerful skill in the land.
Don't include me or my own marionette hordes in your reference to cringing from battle by awaiting death next to a stone.
Instead, hold your tongue until another Blodwyn comes along, when you have again changed professions.
The please take the same post you just made and replace all of those demonology references with puppet references.
It's a matter of learning and employing the systems, not a matter of the systems themselves being off the mark.
