I know what I'm about to do will invoke scorn, accusations of cowardice from some, and disappointment in others, and

'who cares?' from most, but what the hell.

I'm going pacifist again for a bit. I had hoped i could find a more reliable isp, but I've tried

4 different flat-rate ones, and the performance is similarly poor in all of them. Ping times of

300-500, with regular periods of jamming and linedrops is untenable. I've experimented with different

hardware, and had the line checked, and besides, 0845 isps are generally fine - unfortunately

I can't afford them. I'm fed up of dying when I don't even know I'm being attacked, or worse, jamming

in the middle of a scrap.

Until I can afford that ISDN line, or I can find a decent cheap link, I'd rather be

pacifist than not here at all, or skulk in safe locations permanently.

If anybody knows a good flat-rate isp that doesn't drop the line every 20 minutes or so, in the UK,

I'd REALLY appreciate a msg.

Note, I've already tried btinternet, claranet, screaming. net and zetnet.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to learn to fight again soon...
